Your Confidential Consultation

Schedule your Confidential Consultation

Confidential Consultation

When you first contact Peskind Law Firm to discuss a consultation for a divorce or other family law issue, we will request some basic information to help us learn more about your legal needs. At that time we will also check for conflicts of interest. Assuming there is no conflict, you may choose to schedule your confidential consultation. When you are ready, please call (630) 444-0701.

Important Details about Your Confidential Consultation

During your time with us, we will answer all of your questions. But first, we need to learn your concerns, needs, values, and priorities. We also need to gather basic information about your circumstances. During the consultation, we assess your unique situation, offer an initial strategic action plan, and discuss your goals. We will also provide our analysis of the relative strengths and the weaknesses of your position. Additionally, you will be given a copy of Steven Peskind’s divorce handbook, “Divorce in Illinois,” which will provide more information about the law and the process.

At the consultation, we hope you will also get a feel for who we are. In some respects, you are interviewing us and we are interviewing you. We must determine if we are a good fit for each other. It’s important that you feel comfortable and confident with our firm.

Our consultation fee is $150-$300. If you retain our firm, the consultation fee will be credited toward future legal services.

Many lawyers offer free consultations. Those lawyers discount the value of this meeting. In contrast, we feel the consultation is the single most important meeting you will ever have. As such we don’t believe our time or your time should be wasted by “courting you” with a free consultation. We consider that approach dishonest. We give you accurate, important, and substantial information based on your specific situation from the very first meeting. The old saying “you get what you pay for” applies here. You will find that all of the top divorce lawyers charge a consultation fee and we are recognized as one of the most respected law firms in the country.

Towards the end of your confidential consultation, we will determine the required retainer and discuss the estimated total costs. The consultation is confidential and subject to the attorney-client privilege, even if you do not hire us.
